Introduction

Children in my care will be taught about how to keep themselves clean and personal hygiene. I will
promote this by teaching them to wash their hands…
After going to the toilet
After touching animals
Before and after eating
After play outside
After playing with paint/play dough etc
Before any cooking activities
I will make sure my setting is safe and clean by :
Cleaning the downstairs toilet daily and provide each child with their own towel
Vacuum downstairs and the sleep room daily
Clean the kitchen daily by wiping the surfaces and cleaning the kitchen floor.
Bins being emptied when full or at least once a day
Cleaning the fridge at least once a week and checking the fridge temperature daily.
Checking for damaged toys regularly and cleaning toys when necessary.
Fire alarms will be checked once a week and Fire procedure will be practiced with the children every 2 weeks.
By doing the above, we can hopefully help to cut down on the amount of tummy bugs and
illnesses that can be passed around.
